“Is your book then about your relationships with other people or is it more about yourself and your own thoughts?”

“Mmm, both, I guess. It’s about love, but not necessarily romance—about motherhood, friendship, my dog—” Her body couldn’t decide between smiling or pouting. “And what remains when you lose it.”

— from Palimpsesto

From the Greek palímpsēstos, "scraped again". In the novel, every new connection is overlaid with what came before: past lovers, lost friendships, the memories that won't quite leave.

It follows a single year, November to October, in chapters titled "[Date], or [Title]" and grouped into four parts (Percepción, Connexion, Reflexión, Ausencia) and an epilogue. Undated chapters (poems, vignettes, flashbacks) interleave outside the calendar.

The narration is in English; the Spanish of her friends and the French of Montréal stay untranslated. Text messages and notifications surface raw inside the chapters, sparingly.

Draft complete; currently in revision.
