Elena Jacobo

Born in Tijuana, based in Montréal. Her work circles around the themes of memory and observation: what attention preserves and what time erases; who is watching and what — or whom — they watch.

She photographs strangers' lives without being noticed, walls that peel and get overwritten, a border separating nations that dies in the ocean.

She writes without respect of time in a borrowed language; about memories that overlap and replace others, people who come back as ghosts, and the city that holds them like tattoos on its skin.
